50% in Band 9, private lessons, or teacher approval *Students will be expected to supply their own instruments for the duration of this course. Larger and color instruments (tuba, baritone/euphonium, horn, bass clarinet, oboe, bassoon, baritone saxophone, string bass) are available at LTCHS on a first come, first served basis.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Symphonic Band 10 is a non-semestered, FULL YEAR course which will focus on developing musicianship and characteristic tone quality, instrument technique, music theory, music history, and performance skills. Opportunities to explore literature for small ensembles and more individualized instruction will also be available. In addition to two concerts, Symphonic Band also offers opportunities for travel, with a workshop in the fall and a trip in the spring. This course is sectioned into two classes - Woodwinds and Brass/Percussion. Full band rehearsals take place once per week during class time. All classes run during Period 0 (7:10 - 8:25 am)
