5 PRE-REQUISITES:

*Students will be expected to supply their own instruments for the duration of this course. Larger and color instruments (tuba, baritone/euphonium, horn, bass clarinet, oboe, bassoon, baritone saxophone, string bass) are available at LTCHS. **The school has a limited supply of smaller instruments available for those students who are unable to supply their own. These instruments will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Introductory Band is a unique opportunity for students in Grades 10-12 with little or no previous musical experience, students who completed Band 9 but require further instruction before advancing to Symphonic Band, and students who wish to switch instruments. Students with no experience or students who wish to change instruments are able to select an instrument of study (subject to availability) and learn the fundamentals of playing a wind or percussion instrument in a high school band setting. Opportunities for advancement into the Music 10, 20, 30 (Symphonic Band) class are dependent upon the individual student’s progress throughout the course.
