COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to help K&E students develop fundamental reading and writing skills. At a modified pace, students will work on their functional and creative writing skills, and will learn strategies to improve reading comprehension. These goals are met through a variety of activities including a novel study, essay writing, research projects and personal journals. In order to meet the required hours of instructions, this course is taught in two parts. English 96 is taught every day for one semester in a single class block while English 96+ will be taught every other day on either a Day 1 or Day 2 in the same semester with the same teacher. Students who successfully complete this course will have an opportunity to take English 10-4 in their Grade 10 year.
