The class will include specific instrument study, music theory and history, ensemble playing, and, of course, band performance. In addition to two concerts, Band 9 also offers opportunities for travel, with a workshop in the fall and a trip in the spring. Grade 9 Band students may also have the opportunity to participate in additional ensembles including Jr. Jazz Band, Sr. Jazz Band, Pep Band and various Chamber Ensembles. These groups will be offered on the basis of interest and rehearsal time available. NOTE: This class is offered EVERY OTHER DAY ALL YEAR LONG (2 options) and students must commit to a full year of study. Classes will be divided by the teacher based on previous levels of experience. Opportunities for advancement to a more advanced class during the year are dependent upon a student’s progress throughout the course. *Your TOP TWO choices will drive the Timetable so please ensure that your Complementary subject choices are numbered by preference (first to last).
