ESL classes are designed to provide opportunities to learn and practice the skills required for success in courses taken outside of ESL. The language arts of reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing and representing are stressed, as is Canadian culture.

 

  • ESL  Grade 9  

  • ESL  Level 1  (5 credits)  

  • ESL  Level 2  (5 credits)  

  • ESL  Level 3  (5 credits)  

  • ESL  Level 4  (5 credits)  

  • ESL  Level 5  (5 credits)  

ESL Introduction to Canadian Studies 15  (ESL Level 1/2)   

 

(ESL Level 1/2) This course is designed for students new to Canada. Information about Canadian culture, history, government, and geography will be studied to assist students with future Social Studies courses.

ESL Introduction to Canadian Studies 25  (ESL Level 3/4)    

(ESL Level 3/4) This course is designed for students new to Canada. Information about Canadian culture, history, government, and geography will be studied to assist students with future Social Studies courses.

 

ESL Introduction to Mathematics 15  

 

This course is designed for students new to Canada.  This course will help students develop the needed math literacy and numeracy skills for subsequent math courses.

 

ESL CALM 15  

This course is designed for students new to Canada. ESL Career and Life Management helps students to make informed decisions in regard to personal choices, resource choices, and career choices.

 

ESL Science 15

This course is designed for students new to Canada. This course will help students develop basic science skills and science-related vocabulary for subsequent Science courses.

 

ESL Social Studies 10-2 

This course is a sheltered Social 10-2 course for English Language Learners still developing academic language skills necessary for Social Studies courses.

 

ESL Expository English 15-5 (ESL Level 2/3) 

Expository English exposes students to different types of expository reading and writing. Students will develop critical reading and writing skills.

 

ESL English 10-2  

This course follows the curriculum of English 10-2; however, it is designed to progress at a slightly slower pace to provide more opportunities for English Language Learners to strengthen their reading and writing skills.
